2021 ESG rating: DEUTZ improves by a solid 11 percentage points

  • Engine manufacturer in the top quarter in the 'Industrial Goods & Services' sector
  • Above-average performance in the 'Social' and 'Governance' categories

Cologne, March 24, 2021 – DEUTZ achieved a solid 39 points in this year's Vigeo Eiris Sustainability Ratings. The engine manufacturer enjoyed a marked improvement of 11 percentage points in the 2021 ESG (environment, social, governance) ratings compared to the prior year. DEUTZ is ranked in eleventh place in the 'Industrial Goods & Services' sector, placing it in the top quartile of a total of 49 companies. Last year, the engine manufacturer was ranked 34th. DEUTZ scored 42 out of 100 points in the 'Social' and 52 points in the 'Governance' categories in 2021, better than the average rating in its peer group ('Social': 33 points, 'Governance': 46 points). In the 'Environment' category, the company scored 23 points, slightly below the average of 25 points.

DEUTZ has been actively and strategically pressing ahead with its sustainability activities since 2019. "Companies can only remain successful if they fulfill their social, corporate, and environmental responsibilities. That is something we firmly believe in at DEUTZ. The good results in the ESG ratings show that DEUTZ is on the right path with the 'Taking Responsibility' sustainability strategy. At the same time, these results also motivate us to further strengthen our sustainability credentials in the market," says DEUTZ CEO Dr. Frank Hiller.

The assessment was carried out by ratings and research agency Vigeo Eiris. It measures how companies across various sectors perform in terms of sustainability in the categories 'Environment', 'Social', and 'Governance'.
