Alle wassergekühlten Motoren benötigen ein wirksames Kühlsystemschutzmittel, um die Funktion des Motors dauerhaft aufrechtzuerhalten. Die Verwendung von ungeeigneten Kühlsystemschutz-mitteln führt häufig zur Undichtigkeit des Kühlsystems durch Korrosion und Unverträglichkeit mit den Dichtungsmaterialien. Zudem kann es zu Lochfraß an den Aluminiumbauteilen und zu Ausflockungen kommen, welche die Kühlkanäle zusetzen und blockieren. Diese Schäden können zur Überhitzung des Motors und als Folge zu schweren Motorschäden führen.
