The digital service business holds enormous potential for the future. DEUTZ is convinced that both its software solutions and its spare-parts business will benefit from growing demand for digital services. “Our collaboration with the IoT start-up talpasolutions in Essen puts us in a great position to serve this market and add value for DEUTZ and for our customers,” says Damian Weckmann, Head of Digital Projects Central Sales at DEUTZ.
With its FUSIONHUB digital ecosystem, DEUTZ is offering businesses in every sector – from OEMs and fleet operators to equipment leasing companies – an open platform that allows entire fleets of machinery to be fully monitored. Our core promise is ‘Uptime as a service’ (UaaS), that is to say machines that will work as long, as reliably, and as efficiently as possible. This benefits end customers, for example if they’re operating ports, airports, or opencast mines and need to be able to depend on the reliable functioning of their machinery. Our own customers also benefit from digital monitoring, as it enables them to offer their clients machinery uptime and spare parts.
Functionality such as anomaly detection notifies users if something isn’t working as it should. Predictive alerts indicate impending outages, necessary repairs, and the need for maintenance. Specific error messages and recommended spare parts ensure that service technicians can perform any repairs that may be required more quickly. These features allow FUSIONHUB users to avoid downtime, and therefore costs.
Terex Deutschland GmbH in Bad Schönborn has already connected around 2,700 machines bearing its Fuchs brand name to FUSIONHUB. Fuchs is known for its innovative material handlers, powerful machines that perform demanding tasks in scrap yards, recycling plants, in the timber industry, and in ports. Thanks to FUSIONHUB, Fuchs is able to offer its customers very precise information. Status indicators, utilization reports, and details of every deployment provide end users with invaluable data about the efficiency and the current condition of their machines.
Looking forward, DEUTZ intends to develop the platform idea further. But users are already benefiting from a unique feature in the form of a digital twin for their machines. This enables users to operate in a more informed way by allowing them to keep a digital eye on the efficiency of their equipment at all times.
