Tactical Mobility

Drive technology in the power range of up to over 800 hp/600 kW.

DEUTZ's core portfolio comprises robust combustion engines with a power range of up to over 800 hp/600 kW – suitable for wheeled vehicles as well as lighter armoured tracked vehicles. We also develop highly efficient engines for powerful power packs that integrate the engine, transmission and control system into a compact unit. Among other things, the Fennek reconnaissance vehicle used by the German Armed Forces is powered by DEUTZ engines.

DEUTZ propulsion systems are also ideal for modernizing and retrofitting existing platforms (known as repowering). Together with a worldwide leading gearbox manufacturer, DEUTZ has also developed a V8 power pack for replacing old engines in order to extend the service life of proven systems.

All DEUTZ diesel engines are already ‘multi-fuel ready’. This means that they can already burn biofuels without any modifications. This significantly reduces dependence on fossil diesel.

 

 

Hybrid and electric drives

For future missions, DEUTZ is also focusing on hybrid and electric drives. The hybridization of the Bushmaster troop carrier and the electrification of the Fennek prove that military vehicles benefit substantially from alternative drive technologies – the electric motor ensures rapid acceleration and virtually silent movement in combat situations, thereby also increasing safety for the crews.
