DEUTZ welcomes new apprentices

  • Thirty-three young people embark on their chosen careers
  • Five women have opted for a training programme in commercial engineering
  • The apprenticeships have started with an induction period

On 7 September 2011, a total of 33 new apprentices embarked on their careers at DEUTZ
AG in Cologne.

Dr Margarete Haase, a member of the Board of Management, welcomed the new career entrants as part of an introductory event at the DEUTZ technology centre and wished them a successful start to their professional lives. "I am pleased that these young people have chosen to carry out their vocational training at DEUTZ," said Dr Haase. "A good training programme is the best foundation for a professional career. At the same time it is an investment in our future, as by training today's young people we are furnishing them with the necessary skills for tomorrow. I am also especially pleased that another five women have chosen to pursue technical careers this year." The young people, aged 16 to 21, will be introduced to their apprenticeship programmes during an induction week led by the training managers and current second-year trainees, who will familiarise the new apprentices with
the various activities and areas of the business.

DEUTZ offers commercial engineering applicants a choice of six different career routes. This year, 16 young people at the site in Cologne have chosen to be trained as production engineers, while eight entrants have opted for training in industrial technology and four are starting their apprenticeships as cutting machine operators. In addition, three of the young people will be trained as industrial electronics engineers, one as a materials tester and one as a warehouse operative.

At the DEUTZ plant in Ulm, six apprentices began their training in industrial technology on 1 September 2011. Two other young people there have chosen to become cutting machine operators. On the same date, three apprentices started their training in industrial technology at the plant in Übersee and a further two young people have been employed by DEUTZ as trainee cutting machine operators at its site in Herschbach since 1 August 2011.

Each of the various apprenticeships will last between two and three and a half years. In Germany as a whole, DEUTZ AG currently employs a total of 156 trainees.
