DEUTZ and IN VIA support career preparation

  • 38 young people undergo basic metalwork training in DEUTZ's training workshop
  • Partnership between DEUTZ and IN VIA now in its 18th year

In September 2010, 38 young people began a vocational course at DEUTZ AG as part of their IN VIA career preparation training. The course, which runs until 30 June 2011, gives the trainees the chance to try out their professional skills and interests in DEUTZ's training workshop. IN VIA has been organising this form of career preparation training in cooperation with DEUTZ AG and on behalf of the German Federal Employment Agency for 18 years now.

During their year at DEUTZ, the trainees will, amongst other things, receive basic training to familiarise them with the fundamental techniques of metalwork. They will also learn personal skills, such as team work, self-discipline and reliability, in preparation for a vocational apprenticeship. In addition, the trainees will undergo specific career training, such as exercises to practise for selection tests and interviews, tips on creating a CV and applying for jobs and lessons at a vocational school.

Participants who completed their training in the past year found vocational training positions (83%) or inter-company vocational training positions (14%) or entered secondary school (3%).

In Via e.V. is an independent charity of the German Caritas welfare association which, among other objectives, helps prepare young people for vocational training.
